Kayaking
Kayaking is a passion of many islanders who are members of the Island Paddlers Club.

For visitors, a kayaking excursion is often the most memorable experience of their entire west coast vacation adventure.

First time Kayaking? It's a delight. As long as you like being on the water you'll love kayaking. Enjoy taking a 3 hour paddle the first time with a group of other visitors, together with a guide. You'll receive dockside instruction, then you'll experience the real thing. Often seals follow the kayaks down the harbour. A favourite place to stop is on Third Sister Island , with its beautiful white shell beach. A real treat is a Sunset or Full Moon Paddle.

There are many easy destinations to paddle to from Salt Spring Island . Wallace Island Marine Park is located off the NE side of Salt Spring. Sheltered Conover Cove offers refuge and a starting point for hiking the 128 acre island.

Portland Island is easily accessible from Fulford Harbour . From Ganges Harbour it is a pleasure to paddle to the beaches on the largest un-serviced island of the southern Gulf Islands , Prevost Island .

It is also an easy paddle to Montague Harbour on Galiano Island , or around Ruckle Park on Salt Spring.

Whale Watching

Sidney Marine Safari
Observe seals, sea lions, Harbor & Dall's porpoise, cormorants, bald eagles, oyster-catchers and of course the main attraction Killer Whales. Departure times from April 2006 are 1PM Mon-Fri, or 10AM & 2PM Sat/Sun. Bring sunglasses, camera/video recorder, dress warm, no sandals. We supply cruiser suits, gloves, goggles and binoculars.
